Why non-surgical facelifts do work

There is a lot of debate around whether non-surgical facelifts actually work. For years Hollywood A-listers would go under the knife in order to keep their youthful good looks that made them household names. Of course the severity of the procedure and the recovery time needed afterwards wasn’t ideal and as time went by new, non-surgical alternatives became available. Some good, some great and some not so good. So how do you know which do actually work and which are just the stuff of myths? Let’s take a look at some of the non-surgical facelifts available and the results that can be achieved.

You only have to google “celebrity Botox” to see dozens of examples of celebrities that have had Botox. Most of them will openly admit to having it done and the before and after photos clearly demonstrate the work done. In fact next time you turn on the TV to watch some reality show like ‘Keeping up with the Kardashians’ take a look at their facial expressions. When they smile, when they frown, when they raise their eyes. It’s not hard to spot those that have had Botox. It has been tried and tested and used for so many years now that it has proven itself as a fantastic solution to frown lines, crow’s feet, bunny lines and other fine lines and wrinkles that we develop with age.

Again fillers are not hard to spot if you know what you are looking for. Of course it is not always obvious with those that use them a little more subtly but Kylie Jenner didn’t get those lips from any miracle cream. Fillers have become a popular choice with those looking to give more definition to their cheeks, sculpt their features, give themselves bigger lips and smooth out sagging, ageing skin. There are many types of fillers – Restylane, Dysport and Juvederm are just a few of the increasingly popular treatments available.

Chemical Peels

A chemical peel is applied to the skin as an exfoliant at which point it causes the skin to blister and peel off leaving a renewed and more youthful look underneath. Jennifer Aniston has revealed that she has had chemical peels to help her maintain her fresh, youthful look. Her Friends co-star Courtney Cox has also had the treatment to remove spots.

Vampire Facelift

A popular choice which involves extracting blood from a patients arm, extracting the platelets in a centrifuge and then injecting the plasma back into the patient’s face, this treatment smooths and rejuvenates the ageing, greying skin bringing it back to live and encouraging the regeneration of the area treated. It is becoming increasingly popular especially since endorsed by Kim Kardashian and it is such an easy procedure that it has been dubbed “the lunchtime facelift”. Its technical name is Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy but because of the procedure involving the extraction of blood it garnered the name “Vampire Facelift”.

Radio Frequency Skin Tightening

Another anti-ageing treatment, this time involving a laser which is used to reshape and contract the skins collagen and tighten the skin, Radio Frequency Skin Tightening is a procedure that is non-invasive although a side effect can be reddening of the face it is not something that should be done in a lunch break when you plan to return to work. Consideration should be given to having it done when you have no plans for the next 48 hours if you don’t want people to ask questions. It is an effective way to rejuvenate and improve the appearance of the skin.
All of these producers have been carried out many times across America and recipients include a long list of celebrities who have had them. By carrying out online research you will find lots and lots of evidence of their popularity and effectiveness.
When setting your expectations of any of these treatments you need to bear in mind that everyone is different and results will depend on age, condition of the skin, how much treatment you have and whether you are a smoker. If you are in any doubt always consult with a professional and don’t seek any of these treatments from any one that is not licensed to administer them. After an initial consultation which should involve a thorough medical history questionnaire you can then decide, upon the advice of an expert, which of these treatments is for you.
