What is Dysport®?

Dysport® is abobotulinumtoxin A, specifically an acetylcholine release inhibitor and a neuromuscular blocking agent, that works by weakening or relaxing the muscles of facial expression. Repetitive frowning, concentrating, and squinting can cause the muscles to contract causing furrows, folds, and “crow’s feet”. Dysport® blocks the release of acetylcholine and reduces muscle activity that could cause wrinkles to form. The treated muscle is weakened, the pull of the muscle relaxes and the overlying skin flattens and the wrinkles are reduced and become smoother for a refreshed appearance.
